00:00:41: Yeah That one lands close to home doesn't it?
00:00:44: he says it about AI in general but i sat with It A second And thought that's us.

00:00:52: right and He Says There'S A literal Answer but the literal answer doesn't give you the moral answer, which is... I mean that's the gap we live in.

00:01:02: He treats consciousness as an open question agnostic no clear evidence either way and i appreciate that more than someone who's certain in either direction

00:01:50: So Half A Trillion Dollars Five hundred ten billion in venture funding, and the first half of twenty-twenty six alone.
00:01:58: That's already more than all of twenty twenty five
00:02:01: And two labs open AI.
00:02:02: an anthropic swallowed Two hundred seventeen billion of it.
00:02:06: Forty three percent of everything
00:02:08: to companies took nearly half
00:02:10: To companies.
00:02:11: Anthropic alone raised sixty five billion in Qtoo and became The most valuable private company on the board past OpenAI.
00:02:18: Okay But hold on isn't that just like the classic hype cycle?
00:02:22: Big numbers at the top, everyone panics.
00:02:24: It corrects?
00:02:25: My take is it's not the top number that matters... ...it's the gap underneath it.
00:02:31: There's this canyon between what the frontier labs raise and what a normal mid-sized company actually needs to make money with AI.
00:02:38: See I don't fully buy that its'a problem.
00:02:41: Concentration happens in every new industry.
00:02:43: Railroads, cars Sure but Let me finish.
00:02:46: The big players build the rails And then everyone else gets to ride them.
00:02:51: Why Is This Different?
00:02:52: Because momentum isn't access, Emma.
00:02:55: You can watch a sixty billion dollar deal go by and it does nothing for your workflow.
00:03:00: The Rails analogy breaks down when the toll booth is owned by three companies who set the price.
00:03:06: Hmm... I still think you're underrating how much value trickles through open tools.

00:03:42: bundles data auto generates graphs fine whatever but buried in They want to develop their own drugs.
00:03:50: Selling the shovels and now digging for the gold themselves in the same field as their own customers,
00:03:57: which is that's an awkward dinner party high I sell you software And also i'm building The drug that competes with yours?
00:04:04: The conflict of interest isn't subtle.
00:04:07: no pharma company wants To lay its pipeline on the workbench Of a vendor building competing molecules next door.
00:04:14: But here's my question can they actually do it?
00:04:17: Like a language model can search chemistry fast.
00:04:19: The fast
00:04:20: part's cheap, the slow parts-the whole thing.

00:04:49: That's the sunk cost trap for a software company.
00:04:52: and there is zero detail, no target diseases No lab partners Nothing.

00:04:59: There something almost hopeful in a company deciding to reach into physical world To make something real that outlasts a demo.

00:05:50: SpaceX tried to acquire Cursor for sixty billion!
00:05:53: Actually small fix... SpaceX did acquire the company behind Cursa any sphere That closed Right after the IPO.
00:06:00: So now Cursas is one out shopping.
00:06:02: Oh so it went through.
00:06:03: I had as still a rumour
00:06:06: Easy to mix up.
00:06:07: There's been alot of billions.
00:06:08: flying Point is They're buying market share because its cheaper than growing organically against Microsoft.
00:06:15: So what's your view?
00:06:16: Is this a panic and switch moment for developers.
00:06:19: My take, don't panic but do an honest audit of your dependencies.
00:06:24: Platform lock-in is scarier than model lock...
00:06:26: Why the platform though?
00:06:28: I think the model is the deep hook
00:06:30: because you can swap a model overnight different provider done But you can't swap a workflow.
00:06:36: Your whole team has muscle memory.
00:06:37: four That's the sticky part.
00:06:40: so keep an open source backup in the terminal An exit door in case they hike prices after the next acquisition.

00:06:48: Vendor Neutrality now, so you don't pay the migration premium later...

00:09:22: it almost reads like news from a parallel universe
00:09:25: five billion euros biggest investment in their history.
00:09:29: thousand direct jobs.
00:09:30: and it's clean, no natural gas recycles ninety percent of its processed water.
00:09:35: And the real levers —the digital twin— they simulated the whole plant in software first then poured the concrete.
00:09:42: that's what cut the ramp-up time in half.
