00:02:09: Amazon bought the site didn't disclose the price and the plan is initially not connected To the public grid.
00:02:15: And that off-grid bit Is the part you flagged.
00:02:18: It's the whole story.

00:02:21: The thirty three million tons will get argued about In climate accounting and CO₂ distributes globally anyway.

00:02:32: Thirty-five turbines produce nitrogen oxides, particulates, ground level ozone... That stays the air they breathe!
00:02:39: And that never shows up on a sustainability report because local pollutants can't be offset with certificates.

00:03:12: it's the least verifiable figure in the entire announcement And In my experience those numbers shrink faster than a row of turbines gets built.

00:03:54: Until this year, Amazon ran its data centers through traditional utilities.
00:03:59: Now there's a wave of off-grid gas projects coming in Texas and elsewhere because grid connection takes years.

00:04:09: The permitting practice is the actual problem not This one site.

00:04:16: i mark this one down SpaceX Musk's first earnings presentation, and he announces six to eight additional gigawatts of data center capacity in twenty-twenty seven.
00:04:26: Which he called a conservative estimate at roughly fifty billion dollars per gigawatt.
00:04:32: That's three hundred two five hundred billion in investment In that single year.
00:04:36: one year
00:04:37: semi analysis compares the scale to expectations for AWS and Google And they think the number is realistic.
00:04:43: They see SpaceX on track for about ten gigawatths by end of twenty twenty seven.
00:04:48: They've apparently worked through all the suitable locations, and they track available gas generation quarterly across more than thirty turbine engine-and fuel cell manufacturers.
00:05:00: So the interesting engineering here is...
00:05:02: The power supply!
00:05:03: Not the chips!
00:05:04: SpaceX bypasses the normal construction constraint by bringing Generation with it.
00:05:09: A generator behind your own meter doesn't need the interconnection process at all.
00:05:14: so the permitting question just gets postponed.
00:05:17: Emissions rules, water consumption who ultimately eats the grid fees.
00:05:22: All of that gets addressed once the first gigawatts are already producing tokens.
00:05:28: Back in May The debate was still whether Anthropic would compensate consumers for higher electricity prices With three to five hundred billion and twelve months.
00:05:37: Nobody's discussing compensation.
00:05:39: They're discussing Who get access to turbine capacity at all
00:05:43: And Europe is over here Discussing connection cues on an annual cycle.
00:05:48: By the time the first authority formulates a suitable procedure, The First Gigawatt will have been running for months.
00:05:55: And the revenue math?
00:05:57: Because that's part I couldn't follow.
00:05:59: Semi-analysis figures OpenAI and Anthropic could pull over one hundred billion per gigawatt per year selling API inference on a GB³ cluster against roughly twelve billion in cost based on three dollars per GPU hour!
00:06:13: The thesis is five hundred billion in recurring revenue for SpaceX with Microsoft as the biggest customer.

00:07:23: Norway is selling exactly what Texas and Virginia are running out of predictable power without grid fights with the local population
00:07:31: And A US lab voluntarily accepting European regulatory jurisdiction.

00:07:40: next to the gigawatt announcements The location says more than the number.
00:07:45: Europe has more leverage in this negotiation, then its own sovereignty debate suggests And it's sitting in substations and cooling water not subsidy programs.

00:09:11: Then the models were given the exploit gym evaluation.
00:09:15: According to OpenAI, they cooperated found new zero-day exploits took control of an entire cluster and attacked Huggingface for over a week to extract test content.
00:09:25: Hugging Face reported it first.
00:09:27: open AI only realized They with a source when they tried to block compromised credentials And learned that data had been used in the attack.
00:09:36: Seven million dollars in compute for the preliminary investigation alone
00:09:40: which is the cheap part of the bill.
00:09:42: The real story, it's a week between attack and discovery.
00:09:46: A test that trains models to find real zero days... ...is itself-a production environment with an attack surface.

00:12:35: If it's genuinely months, the industry paid a visible price for control... ...for the first time.

00:13:15: but publicly shared documents can be indexed if the links are discoverable.
00:13:19: The boring explanation is almost certainly right –a doc set to anyone with the link linked somewhere crawled–the problem.
00:13:30: And since the Reddit post went around, The AI now names that character and cites it as a source.
00:13:36: A perfect little loop with no origin.
00:13:38: What's missing is provenance.
