00:00:36: And it is a lot like there's section where Greg Brockman apparently pitched what internally became known as

00:00:46: which was basically play China and Russia against each other in a bidding war for open AIs technology.
00:00:53: Someone at that meeting described It As completely fucking insane.
00:00:57: That Was a junior researcher.
00:00:59: The adults in the room apparently needed more convincing.
00:01:03: Their own ethics advisor said, and I'm paraphrasing...
00:01:16: And Brockman's counterargument was apparently it worked for nuclear weapons.
00:01:20: why not AI?

00:01:29: where not funding open AI was framed as implicitly dangerous.
00:01:33: So governments weren't choosing to give money, they were choosing whether to be left behind.

00:01:44: He was telling US intelligence officials China had launched an AGI Manhattan project.
00:01:49: When pressed for sources he said...

00:01:56: One official apparently looked into it and concluded that was entirely made up.

00:02:02: The plan was eventually dropped because employees threatened to quit, which is... I don't know whether thats reassuring or not.

00:02:23: Let's start with something that landed quietly but is actually a big deal.
00:02:28: Anthropic has launched a beta version of Claude for Word, not Excel!
00:02:32: Not PowerPoint!
00:02:32: Word the sacred office ground.
00:02:35: This is the most interesting move anthropic has made in months and I don't think people are treating it seriously enough.
00:02:43: Why word specifically though?
00:02:44: Like... Is word really where the battle is?
00:02:47: Word is where billion-dollar contracts were born.
00:02:51: Word is when regulatory filings happen where merger agreements get marked up at two in the morning.
00:02:56: The legal industry alone, I'd need to double-check the exact figure but we're talking about an enormous amount of document time every year.

00:10:38: Schmidhuber's team is proposing a new architecture where computation memory an IO merge into one learned runtime state.
00:10:45: the model becomes The machine.
00:10:47: This is a rethinking of the most foundational assumption in computing.
00:10:52: the von Neumann architecture separate processor Separate memory has governed every computer since the nineteen forties.
00:10:59: They're saying, what if that separation is the bottleneck?
00:11:03: There are training video models... ...that generate screen frames from instructions and user actions.

00:15:17: with three point nine billion uses And The most sophisticated ad targeting infrastructure ever built OpenAI Is saying they'll match that In a fraction of time with a smaller user base and without an established ad platform.

00:15:32: The valuation math requires it to be serious.
00:15:35: at an eight hundred fifty two billion dollar private valuation you need revenue projections that justify that number.
00:15:41: whether the projections are realistic
